The Algarve has long been one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations and a September date for WorldSBK offers an almost certain guarantee of great weather for racing. With holiday makers finishing off their summer trips to the sun and the circuit only a 15 minute drive from the beach this is an ideal round for a trip.
It’s been a happy hunting ground for Jontahan Rea with the Northern Irishman having won nine times in Portimao since making his WorldSBK debut at the track’s inaugral WorldSBK round in 2008.
